I truly cannot believe I tore the month of February off from my giant wall calendar this morning. MARCH! How did we get here?? Normally, I feel like I would be embracing the warmer days to come, but maybe with the wedding rapidly approaching, it’s all feeling like A LOT. 😅
March is always my least favorite month in Chicago, as it’s when winter drags on and on and you’re just ready for spring. February was quite sunny and pretty mild weather-wise, plus we had a Caribbean vacation in the mix. We’ve even recently had some days in the high 60’s in Chicago, which has been bizarre but also a breath of fresh air — literally.
All that to say… I’m hoping March doesn’t affect me in the ways it normally does! We’ve had *a lot* of travel in January and February and I’m looking forward to settling in at home, but I just hope the weather doesn’t get too miz this month. (You can click here to see a funny meme that always circulates in Chicago this time of year.)
THIS WEEK'S ROSE(S) 🌹
We got home from Steamboat on Monday night and one of the best feelings in my world is getting into our bed with Marley after a trip. Nothing better!
THIS WEEK'S THORN 🪡
This week seemed pretty ho-hum, but I suppose that’s to be suspected after coming off of such a great trip with your closest friends? I worked mainly from my desk all week so it was pretty uneventful.
If you’re local to Chicago, I recently saw that my favorite mom-and-pop donut shop (Dip & Sip) closed in Roscoe Village. Thankfully, they’re moving out to the suburbs, but still a bummer for our neighborhood!
Dave got some unfortunate health-related news this week (he’s okay!), but it was overwhelming and just kind of a bummer all around.
I hate that this is all reading so gloomy, but that’s honestly just kind of how I feel this week. Nothing bad happened, and there’s no real reason to feel so blah, but that’s where I’m at.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ✨
While I’m not necessarily looking forward to a busy weekend after so much travel this past month, I am looking forward to the fun plans I have. We’re seeing some of Dave’s high school friends tonight and then tomorrow I’ve got a girls’ day planned for my friend’s Leap Year birthday! We’re going to brunch and all wearing wigs, which should be pretty funny.
Friday Finds
Here are this week’s finds…
Things to Read, Watch, & Listen to
I was unsuccessfully trying to keep up with the Quince vs Naadam drama on Instagram last week, but this article explains it all.
I shared a bit more about my engagement ring over on my blog this week!
I laughed when I saw this article about dressing like the Ralph Lauren bear. I had an intro call with a new styling client back in October and she told me the RL bear was her style muse. Love it!
Things to Shop
I have my eyes on this $138 cardigan that’s definitely a look-for-less of this Jenni Kayne sweater. So chic!
Everlane is having a 30% off sale so I saved a bunch of my favorites here. Lots of great quality basics for fantastic prices! The brand runs TTS for me.
Hotel Lobby’s New York candle is back in stock… For now, at least!
I’ve been seeing Jennifer Fisher’s salts EVERYWHERE! Specifically the spicy and the everything, among the universal. Has anyone tried them?? Can’t figure out what the hype is about.
The Mango rhinestone ballerinas are back in stock!!!
If you’re on the hunt for an evening bag for any galas or spring/summer weddings, this beaded option is fun! Lots of colors and only $110.
My very stylish girlfriend had this ski suit on the mountain last weekend and SO MANY people stopped her to ask about it! (Also available here.) It’s nice because it’s puffy on top and more fitted (with a flare leg!) on the bottom. For half the price, I found this cute similar style, but then remembered I don’t ski, haha.
Although this is more of a scrapbook than a photo album, this book matches our living room quite well and I’m tempted to start crafting this for Marley! She turns TEN in a few weeks.
I’ve been wanting a longer vest/top for a while and was thrilled to find this one at H&M, as it seems like more of a trendy piece. (Even though it does look quite classic!)
If you’re feeling a bit more spendy, this is the one I’ve had my eye on! Not too bad at $160, but I’m having a hard time justifying most shopping at the moment. (Not to keep mentioning the wedding, but ugh. It’s all just so much money!)
The one part of the process I’m enjoying, though, is saving white bridal-inspired pieces to this board!
I feel like I deeply need this planner. 😂
Things to Cook
I’ve been making a version of these pesto meatballs every week lately. So yummy!
This whipped honey looks *insane!*
Dave made this Roman-style Chicken recipe on Wednesday night. I’m not the biggest chicken thigh fan, but it was tasty. I probably wouldn’t request it again, but I’m just weird about eating chicken.
Contrarily, I have this salad recipe saved to make for dinner next week: Halal Cart Chicken Salad
Other Things of Note
I tried LaCroix’s new Mojito flavor and I’m on the fence… Tastes like their Key Lime with Mint added. Have you tasted it yet?
I finally tried sleeping with mouth tape this week and I have to say I’m a big fan!
