Friday Footnote
When I scroll through my camera roll from the past week, looking for a picture to sum up the week, Iām realizing that I really need to start taking more pics of things besides my dog. š« Or maybe do less talking about my dog, in general? š Can you imagine how annoying I would be if I had an actual human child?
The photo below is my new lock screen though! š„° Also file under reasons why I canāt have nice things (the paws on my sneakers and clothes) and why Iām no longer familiar with personal space. She insists on literally being on top of me at all times ā especially when sleeping or lounging on the couch, but apparently also when laying down by the lake. At. All. Times. š„¹ Itās cute, but Dave and I have a running joke that the org chart of our family goes Dave Ā» Marley Ā» Me. Marley for sure thinks I report to her since she was around first! š¤Ŗ
Highs & Lows
This Weekās Rose(s) š¹
The SPRING weather over the long weekend was such a breath of fresh air!! Normally when we get a rogue warm day in the winter, itās a one-and-done thing. But it was honestly beautiful for four or five days in a row and WOW was it the reminder of life that all of us Chicagoans all needed!!
On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Dave, Marley, and I went for the longest progressive walks taking up the entire dayā¦ Coffee here, a pastry there, a walk all the way to the lakefront, dinner outside. It was truly magical, and almost felt like we were on vacation in a weird way?
I was riding that warm weather high for the rest of the week, even though itās back to being frigidly cold today.
I felt like I blinked and this week was overā¦ I was out in the suburbs for a work project, had my election judge training for the upcoming primary (March 17th!), and finally got my nails done (they were six weeks grown out, whoops).
Oh, and my Substack got a tiny little facelift, which feels more fresh and fun!
This Weekās Thorn(s) š„
It was a pretty good week, so thereās not much else to say besides the fact that Iām a wee bit hungover today. Whoops! Dave and I stayed up too late last night, for no reason at all. Just hanging out listening to music, and drinking too much wine. (A reminder to stop breaking my Thursday Night Ruleā¢ļø!!)
Looking Ahead āØ
Weāre hanging out with one of Daveās coworkers tonight (hair of the dog might be my only saving grace) and Iāve got a bunch of work I need to get done over the weekend, so it will be pretty low key.
Marley has her little surgery to get two moles removed (and checked for cancer) on Tuesday, so send some healthy vibes our way!! š

THE LAKE PAJAMA SALE IS THE MOST PRESSING NEWS! It only goes until Monday and things sell out very quickly. I ordered these vintage ski pajamas last night for our upcoming trip to Big Sky and have two more sets in my cart: this tan striped set and this green striped set. Also, I adore these bundle sets that come with both shorts and pants with the same matching top.
